Capacity Planning Optimization and Campaign Planning for Duferco La Louvière with SteelPlanner® - 4 Sep 2007
AIS and Duferco La Louvière (DLL) strengthen their cooperation for planning and scheduling optimization. Material Flow Coordinator (MFC) and BetaPlanner MidTerm will complement the existing SteelPlanner implementation.
In addition to the optimization of plant-wide capacity, MFC will allow DLL to control and optimize raw materials supply, manage customer orders, minimize costs, and maximize throughputs. This implementation will take into account all constraints related to suppliers and customers. Consequently, it will increase the customer satisfaction by reducing lead-times, increasing flexibility, and improving due date performance.
BetaPlanner MT will efficiently provide the longest program possible and the best sequence campaign for the rolling mill while minimizing stocks, optimizing stock mixes, and with regard to the constraints of thickness, width, and hardness of the slabs. The BetaPlanner MidTerm will also allow building an adequate slabyard in front of the reheating furnaces by extending the horizon of the rolling schedules.
Mrs. Appiani, IT Manager and Mr. Havelange, Project Manager of Duferco La Louvière say: "With this project we target to enhance our customer service and productivity through a better optimization of our supply chain. We have selected AIS for their expertise in the steel industry and optimization solutions. Our partnership with AIS began many years ago with our first BetaPlanner. We are willing to continue this successful relationship!".
Thanks to the integration of MFC and the new extension of BetaPlanner, the whole coordination of plant lines in the short and medium term will be improved. The combination of the SteelPlanner modules will increase DLL's profitability and develop customer's loyalty by increasing their satisfaction level. The project started in Q1 2007 is due to go live in November 2007.
