ArcelorMittal Bremen Chooses the way to excellence with AIS SteelPlanner Advanced Planning and Scheduling Suite - 30 May 2008
AIS - Advanced Information Systems and ArcelorMittal Bremen started a new and strong collaboration with the aim to implement the complete SteelPlanner APS suite on the ArcelorMittal Bremen site. After a comparative roadmap study, AIS has been selected to optimize the supply chain of ArcelorMittal Bremen. With this project, a complete new era for APS begins in Bremen.
During the project, AIS will improve all the planning and scheduling levels of the supply chain. From budget planning to detailed scheduling and material assignment; passing through capacity planning and master scheduling, the complete supply chain of ArcelorMittal Bremen will be renewed.
On top of planning and scheduling, AIS modules will also manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monitoring. The SteelPlanner modules will provide the complete production status to managers, users, programmers, and help them to take the correct decisions by highlighting - at different levels of decisions - the current KPI situation against target and history.
Five well-known AIS modules will be implemented: AlphaPlanner, BetaPlanner, BetaPlanner MidTerm, Material Flow Coordinator, and SACSO. AIS's recent development, SigmaPlanner for hot and direct charging optimization, will also be implemented.
![]() | "With this project, we target to realize a real breakthrough in supply chain management. We focus to steer the whole supply chain as an integrated process from macro-planning to detailed schedule within one toolset. We intent to improve our delivery performance towards our customers while reducing significantly leadtimes and stocks and optimizing the utilization of our installations" says Reiner Blaschek, manager of Customer Service & Logistics of ArcelorMittal Bremen. |
"We selected AIS as their APS toolset will allow us to steer a precise material flow over all production steps which is key to achieve our ambitious targets. You need the right material at the right point of time in front of a given production line. Furthermore we expect to increase our flexibility and reactivity to adapt our industrial production process in a more dynamic way to short term changes whether they are caused by production or market variations."
This ambitious project is spanning over 2 years and will last until the end December 2009.
