The SteelPlanner System includes the major, steel-industry specific, functional applications depicted in the figure below. The system is the critical integrating layer between the commercial and administrative functions usually implemented on the Corporate Level 4 and the process-specific automation systems on Level 2.
Functionally, this encompasses the core applications of production planning, scheduling and production operations support which are needed for least cost, on-time production results and rapid payback of capital expended.
The SteelPlanner System is designed to meet the specific needs of the steel industry and encompasses powerful software components for managing and improving performance of production operations and production fulfilment processes.

We decided to continue the implementation of the AIS SteelPlanner modules in Ternium Sidor's cold lines because of two main reasons: The excellent results that we have achieved with the Hot End Solution project and the flexibility on the configuration of the solutions of AIS.
