Production Order Generation

This SteelPlanner module converts (customer) demand order items into site specific production orders. These production orders associate all information needed for planning, scheduling and production execution. This includes determination of material requirements in terms of quantity and dimensions at all production stages and standard-practice or quality-oriented work instructions, testing instructions, and packing instructions.

 

This process is unique to steel production.

Creation of production orders is based on :

  • national and international steel industry standards;

  • site specific standards and practices for metallurgical and quality parameters;

  • customer specific requirements defined in the sales order item.

 

End-user (planners / metallurgists) maintainable master data management allows a flexible and efficient process for maintaining product - process information. This information defines production capabilities, production routes, yields, aggregate / specific constraints and other relevant planning, scheduling and operations data, in a comprehensive, centralized database. 

 


The "Production Order Generation" module represents a unique and steel industry specific capability within the SteelPlanner's planning process using steel specific technological rules, standards and master data stored in a knowledgebase.

 


This module comprises four sub-functions:

  • Quality Requirements Determination

  • Material Requirement Determination

  • Calculation of Production Order Throughput Time

  • Production Order Maintenance
