ProductMatch
ProductMatch makes the assignment of inventory a simple and efficient job. It features comprehensive views on the order book and inventory. Parameters permit extensive tuning and control of the assignment strategies. Moreover generated assignments may be edited.
ProductMatch is very configurable and uses exclusive scoring functions that direct the search and the assignment algorithm.
ProductMatch's functionality is a mix of hard and soft rules. Hard rules enable the operator to specify exactly what inventory can be applied. For instance, considering grade hierarchies for alternative grades or the extremes for spread and squeeze rules perhaps also allowing yield or scrap loses. These hard rules cannot be violated by the model.
Soft rules enable the operator to define priorities. For instance, a backlog order (late order) has a priority or bonus when considering available inventory. The same order may receive a penalty if the model applies future inventory (virtual or not yet available inventory). This enables the application emphasis to shift from due date, inventory yard, product, or customer priorities depending on the order book and inventory.
ProductMatch can also be automated and run on a periodical basis (e.g. every 4 hours) as a batch solution.
With this project, we achieved a better knowledge of the scheduling process of the HSM which allows us to optimize the utilization of the mill, to minimize the risk of violations that can harm the equipment, as well as, to improve the quality and level of service to downstream lines and final customer.
