SigmaPlanner automatically generates hot-charge schedules for the casters and the mill. It aims at maximizing the direct hot charge rate and the average furnace charging temperature. Depending on the order book, hot charge rates of up to 85 % can be achieved for uncoupled installations, for coupled processes such as mini mills, 100 % is achieved. Schedules generated by SigmaPlanner can be modified and validated with an advanced graphical editor before being released for production.
Based on the mill production orders, SigmaPlanner generates caster and coffin sequences that respect all the technological and logistical rules and constraints that apply on both the casters and the mill.
SigmaPlanner is highly configurable and allows the creation and customization of scenarios often used during hot-charge scheduling. SigmaPlanner's flexible optimization algorithm uses exclusive scoring functions to direct the search and the optimization.
We decided to continue the implementation of the AIS SteelPlanner modules in Ternium Sidor's cold lines because of two main reasons: The excellent results that we have achieved with the Hot End Solution project and the flexibility on the configuration of the solutions of AIS.
